CATOOSA – The Grove basketball teams had mixed results in their trip to Catoosa on Tuesday.

The Lady Ridgerunners used a strong defensive effort in the third quarter to blow out the Lady Indians 57-28, while the Ridgerunners fell to the Indians 66-38.

Mason Jeffries poured in 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Lady Ridgerunners, who led 22-19 at the half.

But the Grove girls held Catoosa to two points in the third period, while getting 20 of their own to take control of the game.

The Lady Ridgerunners shot 50 percent in the second half, while holding Catoosa to a pair of baskets and 25 percent shooting for the game. Jeffries led the way by shooting 9-of-10 from the floor and 7-of-7 from the free throw line.

The Lady Ridgerunners also dominated on the boards, outrebounding the Lady Indians 37-20, including 20-9 on the offensive boards.

Kelsey Kerr added nine points for Grove, while Kenzie Miller chipped in with eight rebounds. Amanda Cook had seven assists.

Kayla Hall had 10 points to lead Catoosa.

Despite 14 points from Chase Hilton, the Ridgerunners trailed from the beginning in their loss to the Indians.

The Ridgerunners shot 32 percent from the field in suffering their third straight loss.

Trent Phillips had eight points and seven rebounds for Grove.

Hunter Nelson had 16 points for the Indians, leading four Catoosa players in double figures. The Indians shot 46 percent on the night, including 50 percent in the second half.
