With the postseason approaching for most spring sports, the OSSAA has released assignments for area teams.

In baseball the Grove Ridgerunners will travel to Pryor for their shot at the State Tournament. The Ridgerunners will battle Tahlequah and Booker T. Washington as well as the third-ranked hosts for one of eight spots. Regional tournaments for are set to begin on May 4.

The Jay Bulldogs and Kansas Comets are set to begin District play this week. The Bulldogs will host Vinita, while Kansas will travel to Westville on Thursday for a two-out-of-three series. The first game will begin at 1 p.m. with the second game to follow immediately after. A third game, if necessary, will be played on Friday.

In slow pitch softball the Colcord Lady Hornets and the Oaks Lady Warriors will both begin regional play on Thursday. The Lady Hornets will play Colbert in Haskell at 2:15 p.m. The host Lady Haymakers will take on Wyandotte in the Regionalís first game at 1 p.m. Winners of the first two games will meet at 3:30, while the losers will play at 4:45. The championship game will begin at approximately 6 p.m. The Lady Warriors will take on Binger-Oney at Davenport at 2:15. Davenport will take on New Lima at 1 p.m. The third area softball team in Regionals, the Fairland Lady Owls, will play Dewar at Barnsdall at 2:15 p.m. All three regionals will follow the same schedule.

In track the Grove Lady Ridgerunners will defend their regional title at Skiatook on May 7. Jay, Afton and Oaks will all compete at Vinita on April 30, while Colcord, Fairland, Ketchum and Wyandotte will compete at Catoosa on the same date.

Groveís boys golf team will have its Regional tournament at McAlester Country Club on May 2 beginning at 8 a.m., while the boys tennis regional will be at LaFortune Park in Tulsa on May 9. The girls tennis regional will be in the same location on May 2.
