I visited with David Hunter at the Tulsa boat show this week. He showed me pictures of some really big crappie caught out of his resort's public fishing dock. David owns Indian Hills Resort in Bernice. He told me the crappie have really been biting over the last two weeks. The fish in the pictures were all over two pounds, with the largest just under three pounds. Those are really nice crappie for Grand!
I fished for crappie out of my boat one afternoon this week and caught a nice limit. My fish were about 25 feet deep.
The blacks continue to bite on the Alabama Rig. I went bass fishing this week and caught one on the first cast. I wish I could make up my mind as to whether it is ethical to fish this rig.
As usual, Jerry Kropff is catching the catfish. He had fish up to 40 pounds this week, all on rod and reel. I fished for white bass this week up above Twin Bridges but didn't do too well. We had been tearing them up but we couldn't find them the other day.
I'm sure the spoonbillers are still catching them above Sailboat. Look for the fish deep in the channel.
