KETCHUM — Quapaw generated 373 yards in total offense — but still wound up losing by 13 points.

The Wildcats gave up 20 points in the first quarter and 19 in the fourth during a 39-26 loss to Ketchum here Friday night in a District 2A-8 game.

Ketchum used a flip screen pass from Stefan Kay to Spencer Brown for a 63-yard TD pass on the first play of the game.

Kay teamed up with Cody Johnson on an 18-yard pass to create a 13-0 lead before the Cats (1-5 in the district and 2-7 overall) broke through with a 50-yard run by Guthrie Murray. Connell Cawyer toed the PAT.

The Warriors bumped their lead to 20-7 with a 55-yard touchdown run by Johnson late in the first quarter.

Murray lobbed a six-yard TD pass to Josh Ball in the third quarter. Cawyer’s extra-point try failed.

Ketchum (2-4, 2-7) broke the game open with a 20-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Brown and a 73-yard scoring romp by Curtis Witt.

Murray fired his third TD strike of the game in the fourth quarter, hooking up with Justin Mahurin on a 20-yard pass. Cawyer tacked on the extra point.

Quapaw’s final touchdown came on a five-yard pass from Murray to Tyler Bacon.

Braxton Williams created the final score by powering over from one-yard line.

Murray completed 13 of 24 passes for 154 yards and a career-best four TDs.

Ball finished with six catches for 86 yards while Bacon and Coltin Sappington each had two receptions. Derek Lee, Mahurin and John Garner had one catch each.

In addition to his big night passing, Murray also rushed for 141 yards on 16 carries. Josh Hurley added 60 yards on 14 carries.

Johnson netted a game-high 107 yards on 20 carries for the Warriors, who also got 73 yards from Witt.

Kay completed 7 of 12 passes for 127 yards. Brown and Johnson each had three receptions.

Quapaw wraps up the season Thursday night at home with Commerce.
