the year by the slimmest of margins, taking the title at the

Hilldale Invitational by a half point over second place Okmulgee

last Friday.

"font-size: 10pt">The Lady Ridgerunners, who won four golds and 11

medals overall, finished with 106 points, while the Lady Bulldogs

finished with 105.5.

"font-size: 10pt">The highlight of the meet for Grove was a school

record set by Caitlin Bales in the 100 meter dash. Bales’ time of

12.08 broke her own record she set as a freshman and is also

believed to be the fastest time in the state this season, according

to ohstrack.com.

"font-size: 10pt">Kat Johnson also had a big day for the Lady

Ridgerunners, winning both the shot put and the discus. Emily

Iverson claimed the fourth and final gold of the day, clearing 5’4”

to win the high jump title.

"font-size: 10pt">Other medalists at Hilldale include; Ashleigh

Tramel (fourth in the 400 meters), Michaela Werner (second in the

3200 meters), Braleigh Bechtol (second in the pole vault), Tiffanee

Miller (third in the pole vault), Mason Jeffries (second in the

discus) as well as silver medals in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter

relays.

Hilldale, highlighted by Ryan Wheatley’s win in the 400 meters.

Wheatley also finished second in the 800 meters, while teammate

Dallas Sorrels claimed fourth in the same event.

Rainbolt (fourth in the 300 meter hurdles), Curtis Parton (second

in the pole vault), Josh Friend (third in the shot put) and Rocky

Jefferies (third in the discus). The Grove boys also claimed second

in the 1600-meter relay.

"font-size: 10pt">On Tuesday the Grove track teams traveled to

Miami, where the girls finished second to Coweta while the boys

finished in sixth place.

"font-size: 10pt">The Lady Ridgerunners finished with three gold

medals at Miami, where Bales won the 100 meters, while Iverson

again won the high jump and Johnson claimed another title in the

discus.

"font-size: 10pt">Other medalists were Bales in the 400 meters

(fourth), Blair Thomas (third in the 800 meters), Werner (fourth in

the 1600 meters), Bechtol (fifth in the pole vault), and Johnson

(third in the shot put). The Lady Ridgerunners also finished third

and fifth in the 1600 and 3200 meter relays.

boys at Miami, finishing first in the 800 meters. Sorrels added a

fourth place finish in that event.

the 3200 meters), Chad Rainbolt (third in the 300-meter hurdles),

Matt Jeffries (fifth in the pole vault), Friend (fifth in the shot

put) and Rocky Jefferies (fifth in the discus).

Friday when they travel to Coweta.
