The Jay Lady Bulldogs (5-2) basketball team broke their Christmas break layoff Tuesday night at home with a 68-42 win over Verdigris Valley Conference rival the Pryor Lady Tigers (1-6).

Jay doubled Pryor in the first eight minutes 24-12 on the power of 13 points from junior Hannah Ritter. Ritter ended the game as the high scorer with 24 points.

The Lady Bulldogs kept the pressure on in the second quarter and compiled another 21 points. Senior Kelby Budder landed eight points in the frame including a pair of three-pointers.

The Bulldogs went to the bench liberally in the second half and the underclassmen posted a nice defensive effort holding the Lady Tigers to nine and seven points, respectively, in the third and fourth quarters.

Jay senior Sam Robertson ended the night with 18 points. Budder finished with 13. Besides breaking twenty for the contest Ritter went seven of eight from the free throw line. Senior Kaiti Wheeler landed six points while senior Ashley Shrum added four.

Rachel Sordahl led the Lady Tigers with 18 points, including 10 of 12 from the charity stripe.

From here the Lady Bulldogs will continue in conference play with a trip to Miami this Friday. Jay will return to Bulldog Arena Saturday evening for a battle with Delaware County rival the Kansas Lady Comets.
