We lost a good golf friend this past week and I feel it important to acknowledge his passing.

Scott Baker passed away August 12 after a battle with cancer. Our thoughts and condolences go to his wife Kari. He will be missed !!

Tiger Woods is losing another corporate sponsor. Woods is parting ways with watch-maker Tag Heuer, according to Ron Sirak of Golf World. That makes six corporate sponsors Woods has lost, or mutually split with, since the Thanksgiving 2009 car crash that ignited a storm over his private life.

"Tiger's agent confirms Woods' Tag Heuer relationship has expired,", Sirak tweeted Friday night. CNBC's Darren Rovell tweeted the split was "amicable". The Swiss watch-maker suspended use of Woods' image in the U.S. after revelations of Woods' extramarital affairs. Woods had previously lost or mutually split with five marketing partners: Gillette, Gatorade, Accenture, AT&T, and Golf Digest.

NEW - SHAFT FLEX TECHNOLOGY - "Helps the amateurs more than the pros!"

Do yourself a favor and go to If you aren't "SHAFT FLEX FITTED" you are at a disadvantage before you even tee up.

So, please read this...GRAND LAKE GOLF SCHOOL is now the official "Fitter" for in this area. This is a new fitting system in which we can measure instantaneously if you have the right frequency shafts in your clubs. The inventor and developer proved to me that 60 percent of all golfers are playing with the wrong shaft frequency. Simplified, this just means you either get the club face square back to the ball naturally or by force. Go to Naturally is of course best. We offer a fitting and swing lesson for $50. If you replace and order your shafts at $45 each including grip, we credit the $50 to your purchase. Or, ask us about our demo plan. Call me at 918-257-4967.

PLEASE let me know if you or someone you know is having a golf tournament so that I may list it in this report. Also, I donate a lot of lessons, etc to tournaments for fund raisers. Contact me.

We have a Ladies Only Clinic every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Patricia Island Golf Club and Estates. Gregg Compton assists me and we simply give you tips and suggestions while you hit balls on the driving range. The cost is $10 per person. Anyone can come from beginners to low handicappers and you do not have to be a member at Patricia Island Golf Club to attend.

Ladies, we will stop these sessions at the end of August, so come on out while you can.

GOLF ALIGNMENT Use your clubs as alignment aids when you practice. Lay one club on the ground parallel to the target line. Lay another from toe to toe to indicate the direction of your stance. Now, lay another club perpendicular to the target line, extending from the ball back toward your feet. This will indicate the ball position. Examine your alignment and ball position. Hold a club across your shoulders and check alignment toward the target. Repeat for the hips and thighs. In a square stance the shoulders, hips and thighs should be aligned parallel to the target!

The Language of Golf - Phil Beale, a member at Gudge Heath Golf Club, has a 60 foot breaking putt and makes a bet stating that he has a dollar that says, I can make this putt.'

Everyone takes him up on the bet. Phil duly misses the putt by five feet and says, You all owe me a dollar.'

Of course, his golf mates all think he is crazy until Phil produces a dollar upon which he had written,

I can make this putt.'
