PGA REPORT                                                                                                Australian Jason Day has survived a rough final round to win the Byron Nelson Championship, capturing the first US PGA Tour title of his career. Day, 22, closed out a final-round two-over 72 with a bogey, but it was good enough for a 10-under total of 270 and a two-shot triumph over Blake Adams (72), Brian Gay (63) and Jeff Overton (71).

GOLF TIP of the WEEK

Try this on the driving range. First hit some balls with your back leg as straight as you can get it during the backswing. Then hit some balls with your back leg flexed at the knee (and keep it flexed). The result will be that you will consistently strike the ball better with the flex in your knee. In fact, with your leg straight you should hit more bad slices.

Tired of inconsistency?

GRAND LAKE GOLF SCHOOL at Patricia Island is now the official “Fitter” for www.fitchip.com in this area. This is a new fitting system in which we can measure instantaneously if you have the right frequency shafts in your clubs. The inventor and developer proved to me that 60% of all golfers are playing with the wrong shaft frequency. Simplified, this just means you either, get the club face square back to the ball naturally or by force. Naturally is of course best.

We offer a fitting and swing lesson for $50; If you replace and order your shafts at $45 each including grip, we credit the $50 to your purchase. Or, ask us about our demo plan. Call Steve at 918-257-4967 or Gregg Compton at 515-333-9977.
