The GHS softball team took a 10-1 win over DelCo rival JHS Tuesday evening at Lady Red Field.

“We played well but we had a few mistakes,” Lady Red Softball Head Coach Charli Duff said. “Overall it was a good game for us. We’ll build on it and get ready for our next one.”

Grove (11-12, 5A #13) will return to the diamond Monday for a home contest with Wagoner. GHS defeated the Lady Bulldogs on the road late last month with a 6-1 win.

Andrea Gonzales collected the win Tuesday. The sophomore delivered seven strikeouts and gave up three hits with one walk.

Three Lady Bulldog errors created a two-out rally for GHS in the first inning and led to a 3-0 score. Katie Stout, Gonzales, and Jessie Walker all reached base on outfield errors plating Alex Woods, pinch-runner Alyssa Linn, and Megan Freeman, respectively.

A Lady Red error in the third sent JHS senior Alexis Blankenship to first base. Two batters later and Jay pitcher Lauren Wilson hit an RBI single plating Blankenship for the lone Lady Bulldog run of the night.

A four-hit fourth inning saw the Lady Red score five runs. Senior Rachel Allington began the spree with an RBI single, scoring freshman Ashleigh Tramel, who had reached on a walk. Freshman Taylor Dodson then brought home Woods, who had reached earlier on a JHS error. Stout completed the cycle with an RBI single scoring Allington and in between that Dodson had stole home on a Lady Bulldog passed pitch. Freeman reached on a single and was driven home on a hit by Walker to round out the side.

In the fifth and final inning junior Gregoreye Epperson and Woods both reached base on consecutive singles before Dodson drove both home with her second hit, and third RBI, of the night, making the 10-1 run-ruled final.
