Grove basketball sponsoring "Pink Night"

The Grove Ridgerunner basketball teams will be hosting their annual "Pink Night" on Friday, Feb. 10 at their games against Locust Grove.

The Ridgerunners ask that everyone attending wear pink to the games. The teams will be passing pink buckets for the "Quarters for Cancer" campaign. The proceeds from this campaign will be donated to a Grove Public Schools employee currently fighting breast cancer.

Integris Grove will have information on breast cancer awareness and the GHS Student Council will be distributing pink ribbons to all fans.

Games will begin at 6:30 and 8 p.m. at Grove High School.

YMCA now forming soccer and flag football leagues

The Grand Lake YMCA is now forming an adult coed soccer league as well as an adult flag football league.

Both leagues will play on Sundays at the Grove Sports Complex beginning at 1:30 p.m. starting on March 11.

The soccer league will be a six-on-six format with rosters limited to 10 players. Rosters for the football league will also be limited to 10 players. Games will be seven-on seven.

Players for both leagues must be 18 years of age or older.

Registration for both leagues will be open from February 1 to March 2. Cost will be $25 per player for YMCA members, $45 for non-members, a minimum of $250 per team.

Rosters and money are due by March 2. Registration is for formed teams and not for individuals. Trophies will be awarded to first place teams.

Alumni football teams now forming

Alumni Football USA is now forming teams in Jay and Grove for the end of March.

The game is one of nearly a dozen the company is organizing in Northeast Oklahoma, giving former high school gridiron stars a chance to relive glory days and a chance to put those "what ifs" to rest for one night.

Alumni Football USA games are open to all alumni 18 years of age and older.

Teams will number 35-50 players. Games are full contact with four 12-minute quarters and most high school football rules will apply.

Cost is $95 per player but players can save $20 by paying before the team meeting on February 18. Costs cover equipment, stadium fees, five certified officials and stadium insurance.

The team meeting will be held at Grove Braum's on Saturday, February 18 at 5:30 p.m.

Players can sign up at www.oklahoma2012.eventbrite.com or by calling team coordinator Melissa Manzelmann at 512-809-8765.
