Miami, Okla. (Wednesday, December 03, 2008) – Donnie Bigby has been named head coach of the Golden Norse Football Team at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.

Bigby was previously the offensive line coach since 2000.  He is also the chair of the Physical Education Department.

Bigby served as interim head football coach since the announcement made by Rob Green, former head football coach, in November to step down.

“It is an honor and a privilege to uphold the tradition of NEO football,” said Bigby.

Bigby has coached football for 25 years.  Prior to joining the Golden Norse Football Program, he was the offensive coordinator at Owasso High School for eight years.

Bigby also coached at Pawhuska, Stroud, and Porter high schools.

He played college football and baseball at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.

There, he earned a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education in 1983.

Bigby received a master’s degree in college leadership from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.

“Donnie has been a part of the NEO tradition for eight years,” said Tom Poole, interim president.

“During that time, he has striven to uphold the college’s standards for excellence both on and off the field.

We are proud to name him head coach of the Golden Norse Football Team.”
