The Jay Bulldogs ended their ’09-’10 footballl campaign Friday night with a 35-0 loss to Wagoner at Earp Stadium in the opening round of the state playoffs.
A 14-point – two touchdown second quarter saw Wagoner pull out a 21-0 halftime lead. Both scores came with under four minutes left until the break. The first strike was a one-yard run from fullback Chris Ramey. Jay fumbled the ensuing kickoff and that led to a 35-yard TD reception by Drew Curley from QB Prince McJunkis.
WHS had posted a first quarter TD off a one-yard run from Ramey with 8:23 left in the frame.
Wagoner added a third quarter TD off a 39-yard from Jeremy Applegate and a fourth quarter score via a 14-yard run from Bobby Reynolds.
Jay had four turnovers in the contest and was limited to 139 yards of total offense.
The result sees the Bulldogs close out their season with a 7-4 mark. Jay won the 4A-3 district title this season; their first since 1989.
