OKLAHOMA CITY – Jay’s Derick Shrum and Izack Wilson finished as medalists at the state wrestling tournament at the State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City on Saturday.

Shrum finished third at 126 pounds after a pair of close wins. Shrum defeated Ricky Ahrburg of Cushing 4-2 in overtime in the consolation semifinals this morning, then squeezed past Josh Lambert of Cascia Hall with a 3-2 decision in the third place match.

AT 160 pounds, Izack Wilson defeated Dillan Robertson of Wagoner 8-4 in the consolation semifinals before falling to Isaac Beard of Tuttle for the second time, this time by a 3-2 overtime decision to settle for fourth place.

Jay’s Cole Wheeler fell in the consolation semifinals 3-0 to Jeff Bizzle of Cascia Hall.

Grove’s lone remaining wrestler, senior heavyweight Josh Friend, lost a 3-2 overtime decision to Frankie Arndt of Bishop Kelley in the consolation semifinals.
