My good old friend Denny Hopkins from Woodward, OK brought some of his buddies to Grand Lake to play a little golf. They came on the Grand Lake Casino / Patricia Island Golf, Gamble and Stay Package. The other Woodwardites attending were Adren Cunningham, David Neely and Tom Gilliland. Denny and I go back almost 50 years. Obviously, he is a lot older than me. I am sure that his wife Marion loves it when he’s gone. Anyway, it was good seeing him and popping off to a pop off.

It just keeps getting better. They have announced a Junior Membership that is very affordable and still gives you access to the new clubhouse along with discounted golf.

There is a fine line as to how much wrists to use in your golf swing. A quick tip is to use as much wrist action as you want (or can) off of the tee box and as you get closer to the hole, use less. Ultimately, on chips, bump and runs and putting you should not use any wrist action, only shoulders.

If so, please read this…GRAND LAKE GOLF SCHOOL is now the official “Fitter” for in this area. This is a new fitting system in which we can measure instantaneously if you have the right frequency shafts in your clubs. The inventor and developer proved to me that 60% of all golfers are playing with the wrong shaft frequency. Simplified, this just means you either get the clubface square back to the ball naturally or by force. Go to Naturally is of course best. We offer a fitting and swing lesson for $50; If you replace and order your shafts at $45 each including grip, we credit the $50 to your purchase. Or, ask us about our demo plan. Folks, I really need some more golf jokes. Please forward some of your favorites to

Here is one of my all time favorites:

Four gentlemen who didn’t know each other were paired up at the first tee box and introduced themselves before teeing off. By the fourth fairway, golf and conversation was going well with all. Just then, a funeral procession proceeded past them on the nearby highway. One of the gentlemen stopped his play, lowered his head, and placed his hat over his heart. Once the procession had passed, the other three golfers remarked on how respective that was. The fourth gentleman said, “Well, I ought to be respectful. I was married to her for 45 years.”
