Former Grove standout and Oklahoma Sooner Ryan Allgood was recently hired as an assistant football coach at Fort Hays State University.

Allgood, who graduated from Grove in 2005, will coach tight ends under new head coach Chris Brown. Allgood played two seasons at OU before an injury at the beginning of the 2008 campaign ended his playing days. He then spent two years as a student coach, earning a bachelor's degree in sociology. During his time with the Sooners, Allgood played or coached in three conference championship games and four bowl games.

FHSU, a Division II program, are undergoing a rebuilding process with a new coaching staff after finishing 3-8 in 2010. The Tigers have only had one winning season since 2004.

The Tigers began practice yesterday and will open the season on Thursday, September 1 against long-time rival Emporia State.
