Kansas teams sweep

Both Kansas basketball teams won on the road at Chouteau Friday night.

The Lady Comets continued to live up to their number-one ranking, jumping out to a 31-4 lead over the Lady Wildcats after the first quarter. Kansas (3-0) led 55-13 at the half on their way to an 86-32 win.

Kelsey Barnwell led Kansas with 18 points. In all 11 Lady Comets scored.

The Comets had to overcome a 26-22 halftime deficit to defeat the Wildcats 61-52 in the night cap.

The win over the Class 2A fifth-ranked Wildcats was the second in a row for the Kansas boys after losing their season opener against Jay.

Kansas will play next week in the Afton Tournament. The girls J.V. squad will play Oklahoma Union at 4 p.m. on Monday with the varsity boys following at 5:30 also against Oklahoma Union.

The varsity Lady Comets will not play in the tournament due to their participation in the Oklahoma's Best Tournament at the end of this month.
