PLEASE let me know if you or someone you know is having a golf tournament so that I may list it in this report. Also, I donate a lot of lessons, etc to tournaments for fund raisers. Contact me.

Special Mention: My friend Jack Moore is having his annual charity tournament again supporting The Special Olympics – It is called the Mary Moore Charity Golf Tournament. Jack and his supporters have donated thousands of dollars to this cause.

The date is Saturday, August 27; 11:30 a.m. at the clubhouse at the Shangri-La Golf Club. The entry fee includes golf and cart, lunch, silent auction, prizes and raffle. Contact Jack for more info: 918-557-7670.

From Dana Thomas and Mary Wiley - The Patricia Island Ladies Golf Association will be hosting a two gal best ball event on September 1. Entry fee includes breakfast and lunch, favors and prizes. It is called “PUTTING ON THE RITZ. I am told it will be very “blingy”. For more information contact Marilyn O’Grady at 816-801-3469. Also Mary Wiley reports (from back on July 7) that the ladies of Patricia Island Golf Club continue their tournament winning ways. At the Noel Ladies Golf Tournament, two teams placed in the scramble format. Winning second place was the team of Kyla Williams, Dana Thomas, Pat Richwine, and Opal Horner. The team of Cindy Larson, JoJo Rife, Cathy Evans, and Natasha Rutherford took third place. Way to go ladies!!!

I had a great breakfast at The Summit restaurant this week and it was very reasonably priced, and it was really good. The golf course and the new nine holes are all looking great. You just have to see the clubhouse. If you are considering joining, now is the time.

The no initiation fee deal is about to be over. Contact them for more info at 918-257-4204.

“Helps the amateurs more than the pros!”

If you aren’t “SHAFT FLEX FITTED” you are at a disadvantage before you even tee up.

So, please read this…GRAND LAKE GOLF SCHOOL is now the official “Fitter” for in this area. This is a new fitting system in which we can measure instantaneously if you have the right frequency shafts in your clubs. The inventor and developer proved to me that 60 percent of all golfers are playing with the wrong shaft frequency. Simplified, this just means you either get the club face square back to the ball naturally or by force. Go to Naturally is of course best. We offer a fitting and swing lesson for $50. If you replace and order your shafts at $45 each including grip, we credit the $50 to your purchase. Or, ask us about our demo plan. Call me at 918-257-4967.

We have a Ladies Only Clinic every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Patricia Island Golf Club and Estates. Gregg Compton assists me and we simply give you tips and suggestions while you hit balls on the driving range. The cost is $10 per person. Anyone can come from beginners to low handicappers and you do not have to be a member at Patricia Island Golf Club to attend.

Ladies, we will stop these sessions at the end of August, so come on out while you can.

I have been told that one of the best tips is the one about staying on the right swing plane. (Thanks Ileta); imagine that you are swinging inside of a big ring that is slightly tilted back (imagine a giant hula hoop). Another one of my favorite tips is suggesting that during your backswing, you keep your lead hand as far away as possible from your lead shoulder. The good result is that during the backswing you keep your lead arm from bending at the elbow. If these tips don’t help call me at 918-257-4967; email:

I have created a set of clubs that are from the Alpha Golf Company. (

for men or ladies. You can grow the set as you develop but for now they are everything a new player needs. More full sets are also available. Finally you can get quality at reasonable pricing. They also include a $50 credit toward lessons. $350 no bag; $400 with bag.

State of the Art ALPHA GOLF CLUBS for Men and Ladies; driver, 5 fairway wood; 3 hybrid; irons 7, 8, 9, wedge and putter. Call or email me and I’ll send you the info via email.

A husband was driving home one day and his wife suddenly says “Be careful” – “watch what you’re doing!” - “pay more attention!” - “It really isn’t this hard!” – “Keep still” – “watch the road” – “you’re doing it all wrong” – “turn” – “no, don’t turn” – “oh my gosh, why can’t you get it?” – “Are you really this uncoordinated?”

Finally, the husband pulls the car over to the side of the road and asks his wife, “What the heck is wrong with you with all of this?”

She says, “I just wanted you to know what it feels like when you try to help me with my golf swing.”
