Jay boys fall in Adair final; Lady Bulldogs finish fourth

The Jay Bulldogs got 14 points from Jared Sloan but it wasn't enough as they fell to the host Warriors 45-38 in the championship game of the Adair Tournament.

The Warriors (4-2) led 27-23 at the half.

Stephen Tanner added eight points for Jay (4-2).

The Lady Bulldogs, despite 13 points from Laura Whiteley, were edged out by Claremore Sequoyah in the girls' third place game 39-33.

Despite being held to just two points in the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs (2-4) were tied headed into the fourth, only to lose for the second straight game.

Colcord girls get revenge in Afton championship

The Lady Hornets got a measure of revenge Saturday night, beating the team that had beaten them not just in the same game last year, but also ended their season in the area consolation at Coweta.

Colcord (4-1) overwhelmed Oklahoma Union (6-1) 56-38 to take the title. The Lady Cougars entered the contest ranked third in Class 2A in the latest okrankings.com poll.

In other games on the girls' side, the Kansas JV beat Bluejacket 71-55 for fifth, while Quapaw beat Afton 32-19 for third.

Comets repeat as Afton champions

For the second straight year the Kansas Comets are champions of the Coca-Cola Classic at Afton.

The Comets (6-1) overwhelmed Quapaw (2-2) 53-30 for their sixth straight win.

In other games, the Afton Eagles claimed third with a 53-41 win over Bluejacket, while Oklahoma Union edged out Colcord 46-44 for fifth.

Wyandotte teams claim third and fourth at Welch

The Wyandotte Lady Bears claimed third place at the Kenneth Sooter Classic in Welch on Saturday by beating the host Lady Wildcats 52-36.

The Chelsea Lady Dragons claimed the title with a 40-34 win over Ketchum in Saturday's title tilt.

Watts defeated Commerce 47-34 for fifth, while Foyil won over Chetopa, Kan. 36-29 for seventh.

The Bears, meanwhile, fell to Ketchum 66-42 in the third place game on the boys' side.

Chelsea made it a sweep when they defeated Welch 53-49 in the title game, while Watts beat Foyil 60-37 for fifth and Commerce beat Chetopa, Kan. 41-40 for seventh.
