FAIRLAND - A 22-9 run in the fourth quarter rallied Fairland's girls to a 40-32 victory over Afton here Friday in Lucky 7 Conference play.

Cori McCorkell got nine of her 15 points in the fourth frame, including five from the free throw line. Whitney Dushane and Caleigh Mitchell had five each and Paige Gibson chipped in with three.

"We missed seven free throws in the fourth quarter - that killed us," Afton coach Tracy Wheatley said. "We had a few key turnovers, too."

Afton was 5-of-12 at the line in the fourth quarter and 7-of-16 in the game. The Lady Owls converted on 5-of-12 free throw chances.

The Lady Owls led 7-6 after the first quarter, but Afton rallied for a 15-12 halftime advantage. Fairland outscored the visitors 8-7 in the third frame.

Joining McCorkell in double figures for Fairland was Dushane with 11. Davis added nine points.

Cortney Brown scored 10 for the Lady Eagles. She was 6-of-6 at the line.

Afton also claimed a 47-26 decision in the boys' game.

"I thought we played well we just couldn't score," Fairland coach Justin Goins said.

Afton broke out to a 12-3 lead in the first quarter and coasted.

The Eagles were up 17-8 at the half, then took charge with a 15-6 edge in the third period. They outscored FHS 15-12 over the final eight minutes.

Dusty Henry had 19 points to lead the scoring for Afton.

Kaleb Reynolds hit 13 for the Owls.

Afton hosts Wyandotte and Fairland travels to Quapaw on Tuesday.
