I often tell my golf class students that the ultimate accomplishment in golf would be to shoot all birdies (or better) in an 18-hole round. To put that in to perspective, on a standard par 72 course, that would be a 54. On the pro tour where the best golfers in the world are playing at the highest possible level, there are only five recorded rounds under 60. The "59 Club: 1977 Al Geiberger, 1991 Chip Beck, 1999 David Duvall, 2010 Paul Goydos and Stuart Appleby. Even with all of the improvements in conditioning and equipment, the goal is still unreachable.
Whether you were playing in the early 1900's or yesterday, the goal is still "par"; the game hasn't changed all that much.
By the way, of all participation sports, GOLF is the only one WHERE you are your own referee and NEVER has there been what we could call a perfect round played. Yet, the game is loved by millions.
GOLF TIP OF THE WEEK
The Biggest Secret in Golf!: You have to buy better equipment to get better!
As usual, if this doesn't help, give me a call at 918-257-4967.
If 99 percent of the amateur golfers would spend half the money on instruction as they do on new or different equipment, they'd be shooting 10 strokes better within a year. I GUARANTEE IT!
I am always amazed when someone tells me that they just bought a new driver for only $375. It was on sale from $500. Well, I'll give you a $500 golf lesson for $90 and you can save your money for a trophy case. I GUARANTEE THAT, TOO!
JOKE OF THE WEEK
An oldie but a goodie:
Joe decides to take his boss Phil to play nine holes on their lunch. While both men are playing excellent they are often held up by two women in front of them moving at a very slow pace. Joe offers to talk to the women and see if they can speed it up a bit. He gets about half of the way there stops and jogs back. His boss asks what the problem is.
"Well one of those women is my wife and the other my mistress," complained Joe.
Phil just shook his head at Joe and started toward the women determined to finish his round of golf. Preparing to ask the ladies to speed up their game, he too stopped short and turned around.
Joe asked, "What's wrong?"
"It's a small, small world Joe, and you're fired."
NEW .... "Helps the amateurs more than the pros!"
If you aren't "SHAFT FLEX FITTED" you are at a disadvantage before you even tee up.
So, please read this...GRAND LAKE GOLF ACADEMY is now the official "Fitter" for www.fitchip.com in this area.
This is a new fitting system in which we can measure instantaneously if you have the right frequency shafts in your clubs. The inventor and developer proved to me that 60 percent of all golfers are playing with the wrong shaft frequency. Simplified, this just means you get the club face square back to the ball naturally or by force. Get the whole story by going to www.fitchip.com. Naturally is of course best. We offer a fitting and swing lesson for $50. If you replace and order your shafts at $55 each including grip, we credit the $50 to your purchase. You can even use your club heads.
