NEO to host Wildlife Hunter Education Course

Miami, Okla.  – Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College will host an Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Hunter Education course on Saturday, September 18 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Health Sciences Building.  The class is free and open to the public. An hour-long lunch break will be provided from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

This course will address the handling of firearms, safety, game laws, survival, muzzle loading, bow hunting, wildlife management and hunter responsibility. Upon reaching 16 years of age, hunters must have a safety certificate to purchase a hunter license or permit. Any person younger than 16 is required to complete a hunter education course before purchasing a deer gun, obtaining a firearms permit or hunting large game, including deer.

Course information may be obtained at the Miami Wal-Mart in the sporting goods department and on the day of class at 7:30 a.m. The sponsor for this course is Miami Wal-Mart.

All are welcome to attend, but an adult must accompany children 10 years old and younger.  Enrollment will be limited to 100, so plan to arrive early. Realtors to host golf tourney

The 14th annual Northeast Oklahoma Board of Realtors Golf and Give Tournament will be held at Patricia Island Golf Club on October 6, 2010. The four-person scramble will tee off at 9:00 a.m.

The cost is $75 per person fee includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, continental breakfast and lunch after the tournament.

Prizes will be awarded in championship, A, and B flights. Limit of 25 teams.

All proceeds will go to organizations in Northeast Oklahoma in need.

Hole sponsors are also needed for the event. The $275 fee will include a professional sign with sponsor’s name, thank you announcements before, during and after the event, and various print and website advertising. Registration and payment must be received by September 23 to allow for the preparation of signs.
