DELAWARE CO.- Even with the onset of summer, many local sports teams are finding themselves busier than ever. Many local clubs will be spending the next three months attending a variety of camps and participating in summer leagues.

Both the Grove junior high and high school baseball teams will begin their summer season this week. The junior will kick off their season on Monday with a doubleheader against Jay while the high school team will have their first games today when they host Chelsea at 5:30. Both teams will conclude their season with league tournaments. The junior high tournament will be from June 28 to July 2 while the high school tournament will be July 5 through July 10.

John Henry Ward’s wrestling squad will also be keeping busy this summer. The squad will be hosting its own camp on Thursday and Friday of this week from 9am to noon. They will also be attending a camp at the University of Oklahoma in July.

Both Grove basketball squads will be hosting camps in the coming weeks. Richard Bassett and the Lady Red will be hosting a camp on May 27 and 28 at the Grove High School gym. The Ridgerunners with new coach Will Jones will be taking their turn from June 2 through June 4.

The Lady Red will also be attending camps in Locust Grove, Pryor and Frontier during the month of June. 

Additionally the Ridgerunners will be participating in several summer leagues. They will travel to Welch on Thursday and Friday of this week before heading to Adair on June 14 before wrapping up their summer schedule with a team camp at ORU at the end of June.

Finally Grove tennis coach Todd Kerr will be hosting a camp on June 1 through June 4 for kids ages 7-14.
