The Fairland Lady Owls softball team won their district championship Thursday with a two game sweep of the OK Union Lady Cougars. The Lady Owls took a 6-0 victory in game one and followed that with an 8-3 besting of the Lady Cougars in the evening feature.

Kortney Kowal was the winning pitcher in both games. In game one the Lady Owl ace delivered ten strikeouts while giving up four hits. Kowal produced seven strikeouts in game two while allowing five hits.

Bekky Gebhart was the big bat for the Lady Owls in game one. Gebhart went 2 for 3 at the plate with a double and an RBI.

Katie Schubert went 2 for 4 in game one with a seventh inning RBI in game one.

Jessica Blalock went 1 for 2 in game one with a first-inning RBI.

The evening game saw the Lady Owls put up sixteen hits to clinch the district title.

Fairland lead off batter Ashlee Davis went 4 for 5 with an RBI.

Gebhart went 2 for 2 with two doubles and two RBIís.

Kayla Kowal went 3 for 3 at the plate while twin sister Kortney Kowal posted a 2 for 3 showing.

Blalock had a two-RBI single in the seventh inning of the final game.

The wins improve the Lady Owl season record to 12-14 as the team will now begin preparations for play in the Regional Tournament this coming week.
