The GHS Lady Red basketball team spent the weekend at Tahlequah competing in the THS Tournament.

Friday night the Lady Ridgerunners (2-1) took a 54-50 win in semi-final action against the hosting Lady Tigers. A late bucket by junior Peri Lane combined with a free throw from senior teammate Margaret Pogue in the last seconds clinched the win.

Saturday the Lady Red squared off against the Roland Lady Rangers in the Championship Game played on the campus of Northeastern State University. In the event the Roland squad took a 57-44 win as the Lady Ridgerunners claimed the Tournament Runner Up title.

The Ridgerunners basketball troop (1-2) hashed it out with the hosting Tiger team in a late-night Friday semi final game. In front of a partisan crowd Tahlequah took a 77-46 win. Senior Tyler Spychalski was the leading Ridgerunner scorer posting 17 points in the game.

Friday’s result sent the Grove team to Saturday’s Consolation Championship Game where the Ridgerunners faced Okmulgee. The game was a close affair with Okmulgee pulling out a 43-37 victory.

Weather permitting both Ridgerunner squads are slated to travel to Locust Grove this Friday for varsity action. The Lady Red are scheduled to start at 6:30 with the Ridgerunners-Pirates game to follow.
