GROVE- The Lady Red started off their quest for a state tournament berth with a bang, beating up on the Tulsa Rogers Lady Ropers by a score of 17-0.
The Lady Red scored nine runs in the first inning, aided by three errors and four walks by the Lady Ropers. Jessica Walker had a two-run single to highlight the inning.
Grove continued to pour it on in the second inning, adding eight more runs. Megan Freeman had a three-run double while Taylor Dodson added a two-run double.
Starting pitcher Gregorye Epperson was just as dominant in the circle, throwing three perfect innings and striking out seven of the nine batters she faced. The game was ended after three innings by run rule.
The Lady Red will play again this evening at 6 p.m. against the winner between Bishop Kelley and Collinsville. A win there will put Grove in the championship game tomorrow at 4 p.m.
