The Ridgerunners play the Miami Wardogs at 7 p.m., Friday Nov. 3 for the final game of their season.

The home game will also feature senior night where graduating seniors from football, cheerleading and marching band are recognized.

"All of our seniors have put in their time, worked hard and we love all of them," said Coach Ron Culwell.

This matchup between the two rival teams is known as the Rotary Bowl and features a trophy for the winner.

Grove enters the game with a 0-9 record against Miami who is 1-8 having won their previous game against Vinita.

The Miami Wardogs beat the Vinita Hornets 32-19 on Oct. 27 giving them their first win of the year.

Culwell said, “Miami got ahead [of Vinita] and took advantage of them.

“They run the ball a little and have a good running back.

We will have to watch for number 22 they like to throw to him and that’s what they did with Vinita.”

Culwell said the team is, “fired up for Friday and wants to win the last game and hopefully we have great weather, big crowds and with a win in the books.”

The Ridgerunners lost their last game against Cascia Hall but Culwell was, “proud of our defense as Cascia Hall is a run team and we held them to 108 yards rushing.

A notable achievement for the team is freshman kicker Riley Combs has hit his last seven kicks showing marked improvement over the season.

Quarterback Davis Dills will return to play as his possible broken elbow joint reported last week was determined fine clearing him for play.

It is unknown at this time if Dalton Cash will play in Friday’s game as his condition will continue to be evaluated prior to kick off.

Winning this game could give Grove a change to take the lead over Miami in the district standings depending on their total districts points.

The Miami-Grove football rivalry dates back to at least 1929 when records are available.
