Grove moves to 3-4 with the loss to 4A twentieth-ranked Jay on Tuesday, January 3, in Jay.

The Ridgerunners drew first blood with a short jump-shot from Chat Hayes. But the lead was short lived as both teams battled back and forth. At the 3:33 mark, Jay's Stormy Taylor hit a layup to put the Bulldogs up 6-5. Gabe Simpson added a three and Kobe Budder made another two. Grove made a comeback, ended the quarter with an 11-10 lead for Jay.
The second quarter started with Grove retaking the lead for a minute. Jay tied the game at 12. But at the 5:42 mark, the Bulldogs began pulling away again, expanding the lead to as many as nine. The halftime score was 23-17, in Jay's favor.
Grove started the third quarter with a three from Zane Knox. The Ridgerunners scored 19 points, with Dillan Miller and Knox scoring eight each. Grove pulled within two of the Bulldogs, before Jay pulled away again. The Bulldogs scored 17 during the quarter. The quarter ended with a score of 40-36.
The Ridgerunners outscored the Bulldogs again in the fourth, even hitting a three-point buzzer beater. But Jay would take home the win, 55-53.
For Grove, Miller lead scoring with 22. Brady Phillips had 12 and Tommy Horton and Knox both had eight.
On the Bulldogs' side, Garrett Sweeney lead the team with 15, followed by Taylor with 12 and Simpson's eleven.
Next up for Grove is 5A's tenth-ranked Claremore. The Ridgerunners will host the Zebras at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10.
