Fred L. George, resident of rural Wyandotte, died at home Tuesday afternoon, May 4, 2010, after a lengthy illness. He was 60.
Mr. George was born Aug. 21, 1949, in Joplin, Mo., to Fred and Daisy (Ginn) George. He worked in highway maintenance for the Missouri Dept. of Transportation. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Columbus, Kan. He married Dawnus Shiflett on Sep. 4, 1992, in Joplin.
He is survived by his wife; two step-sons and their wives, Bryce and Coralee Barth of Priest River, Idaho and Brandon and Cindy Barth of Joplin; two step-daughters, Shayla Hood and husband, Tyler, of Alba, Mo. and Chanda Vandiver of Miami; a brother, Louis George of Webb City, Mo.; a sister, Kay Robinson of Jefferson, City, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses East in Joplin, with Elder Gerald Hudson officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roland Adcock, Adcock Funeral Home in Miami.
