William “Bill” Henry Jr. passed from this life on June 30, 2011 in Bentonville, Arkansas at the age of 78 years.
Bill was born May 11, 1933 in Vinita, Oklahoma to his parents WH and Lena Taylor Henry Sr. Bill served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from BF Goodrich with 31 years of service in the cement room. On May 29, 1952 Bill took Miss Peggy as his bride. They have resided in Miami since 1955. William is a member of the Church of Christ and read his bible daily. He enjoyed playing pool and entering pool tournaments, coaching little league baseball and held the office of president of the league. After retirement Bill worked for the Blue Jacket and Miami School System as a part-time custodian. Bill loved to drink coffee and visit with his friends and family. He also enjoyed word search books.
Bill is survived by his two sons, Bill Henry of Miami, Okla. and Ron Henry of Miami, Okla.; two daughters, Brenda Allgood of Miami, Okla. and Sharon Quisenberry of Miami, Okla.; two sisters, Nadine Mays of Miami, Okla. and Betty Pilkington of Austin, Texas; mother-in-law, Thelma Jones of Miami, Okla.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Miami, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at GAR Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. American Legion Post 147 will deliver the Military portion of the service at the graveside.
