William (Bill) Neely, lifetime resident of Wyandotte, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, after a lengthy illness. He was 66. 

Mr. Neely was born May 24, 1943, at Tulsa, to William R. and Cleona (Batten) Neely, Sr.  He was a graduate of Wyandotte High School, with the Class of 1961.  He was a veteran, having served in the US Army. 

He had served with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Dept. for ten years as a law enforcement officer and for the last 15 years, he had served as the Chief of Police for the Wyandotte Nation. 

He married Carolyn Sue Dodson on June 7, 1963, at Seneca, MO.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wyandotte for 60 years, and also a member of the State Chief’s of Police Association. 

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue of the home, a daughter and her husband, Melissa and Ricky Davis of Wyandotte, a sister, Martha Burge, of Essex, MO., and three grandchildren, Nicole, Jessica, and Morgan Davis. 

A funeral will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 28, 2009, at the Wyandotte High School Gym, with Rev. Jim Wilson and Rev. C.G. Gilmore officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Officers Dick Teeter, Terry Butterfield, Farron Lee, Sean Corbit, Kenny McKee, and Steve Puckett. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Francisco, Officers Bill Pinion, Kenny Arment and Wyandotte firefighters. 

Burial will be at Wyandotte Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland.  Arrangements provided by Adcock Funeral Home of Fairland.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Good Shepherd Hospice in care of the funeral home.
