Mr. David Loy Bostwick went home to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday March 8, 2011 at the age of 66 years in Joplin, Missouri. David was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to his parents Donald and Teddy Bostwick, January 20, 1945.

On December 28, 1966 David took Miss Shirley Anderson as his bride in Pryor, Oklahoma. He and Shirley have resided in Pryor for over 32 years working and raising their children while residing the last 13 years in the Miami area. David was a brick mason for many years working for Brazil and Tex Taylor Masonry. David and Shirley were members of First Assembly of God Church of Fairland, Okla. In their younger years he and Shirley enjoyed watching car racing. The most favorite hobby David had was watching his son coach basketball. Many hours were spent imparting the love and knowledge for the game of basketball to his son and his college players. David was so proud of his team. Basketball was one of the Bostwick’s true passions. If David was not with his son on the basketball court he was with his grandsons coaching them from the bleachers with nothing but a quiet head nod, thumbs up, or a very vocal encouragement. Who can replace the grandfathers love and pride he has for his grandchildren.

Although David is no longer with us, his memory and legacy will be kept alive through the family and friends he leaves behind which include his wife of 44 years, Shirley Bostwick, of the home; one son, Donnie and wife Sheri of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; one daughter, Angela and husband Shawn Summers of Miami, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a host of longtime friends, neighbors and church family.

David is preceded in death by his parents, and one  sister, Paula Bostwick. A home going celebration will be held 1 p.m., Saturday March 19, 2011 at Fairland Assembly of God Church. Pastor Jackie Crafton will be officiating.
