Longtime resident of Miami, Oklahoma Mr. Leroy Moore passed from this life and entered into heaven gates on Tuesday March 1, 2011 in Miami, Oklahoma.
Leroy was born August 19, 1919 in Welch, Oklahoma to his parents George and Edna Moore. Leroy was 91 at his home going. Leroy was a maintenance engineer for many years with the Baptist Regional Health Center.
He served in the Army Air Corp from 1942 thrrough 1946. Leroy was very proud of his military service. On June 4, 1949 Miss Leona Scoles became Leroy’s wife in Bentonville, Arkansas. He and Leona have lived in the Miami their entire life. They both have been longtime members of the First United Methodist Church of Miami, Okla. serving over 50 years. Leroy was a member of the American Legion and bowling club. He enjoyed gardening, traveling and especially his family reunions. Leroy took great pride in his garden. Each year his garden of strawberries, vegetables and apple trees grew bigger and better.
Although Leroy is no longer with us, his memory and legacy will be kept alive through the family and friends he leaves behind which include his wife of 61 years, Leona Moore, of the home; one daughter, Teresa and husband Jeff Ziegler of Colorado Springs, Colo. and a host of longtime friends, neighbors and church family.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday March 8, 2011 at Glen Abbey Cemetery with Rev. Rex Scoles officiating. The family received friends and for visitation on Monday evening from 6-7 p.m. at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a memorial be made to Integris Regency Hospices or a memorial of your choice.
