Harding G (Brog) Turner, longtime resident of Afton, died at home Monday afternoon, Dec. 21, 2009, after an illness.  He was 88. 

Mr. Turner was born at Narcissa, OK, Nov. 19, 1921, to John and Lena (Alshire) Turner.  He had worked in several different jobs, including truck driver, ship yards, landscaping, mushroom farms, and his last job as that of custodian for the Afton School System. 

He married Sunny Wahn Williams on Oct. 27, 1945.  She preceded him on June 28, 1988.  They returned to Afton in 1962, coming from Oregon.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Afton. 

He is survived by four sons and their wives, Darreld and Carol Turner, Afton, James and Glenda Turner, Joplin, Ronnie and Wilma Turner, Afton, and Johnny and Tammy Turner, Afton, four daughters, Sandra and Gordon Moore , Danville, IN, Sharon and Rick Walker, Vinita, OK, Diann Whitney, Grove, and Joyce and Rob Cave, Afton, thirty grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. 

Other than his parents and wife, he was preceded by his other twelve siblings and three grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Hickory Grove Cemetery, with Rev. Ted Wynn officiating.  Pallbearers will be Deacon Turner, Darron Turner, Brian Turner, T.J. Turner, Justin Whitney, Charlie Shaw, Jeremy Shaw, and Weston Turner,  Honorary pallbearer will be Heath Gibson.  A visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, at Adcock Funeral Home Chapel .  Arrangements provided by Adcock Funeral Home in Afton.  In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
