FEBRUARY 17, 1941 - JULY 13, 2008

GROVE - Graveside services for Cary R. Thurman, 67, Grove, will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2008, 10:30 AM at Olympus Cemetery, Grove.  Pastor Gerald Byrd will officiate.  Services are entrusted to Stephens Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Thurman was born February 17, 1941 in Tyler, Texas; he passed away on July 13, 2008 in Tulsa.

Cary had lived in Grove for about the last 24 years.  He worked for the Yukon Police Department and served as Chief of Police for the Mustang Police Department.  After receiving his Association Degree in 1973 he went to work for the OSBI (Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation).  He worked for the OSBI in several different capacities and ended his career as Resident Agent in Grove in 1995; He chose Grove for his final assignment so that he and Kay could build a home on Grand Lake that he was very proud of.   All together Cary had 35 years of serving in law enforcement. Cary was married to Kay Elliott on October 24, 1981 in Yukon, Oklahoma.  He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a former member of the Lions Club in Dewey.  Cary enjoyed fly fishing, collected guns and traveling.   His family was a very important part of Cary’s life and he was very proud of his children and grandchildren.

Cary is survived by his wife Kay of the home, daughter Edyezan and husband Roger of Norman, son Stephen and wife Barbara of Bentonville, Arkansas, son Sean and Bobbi Jo of Jay, son Cary Lynn and wife Sherlon of Webb City, Missouri, son Eric and wife Lisa of Broken Arrow, son Chad of Yukon, 11 grandchildren, sister Bernice Andoe of Kenwood, brother Bill and wife Rhonda of Tahlequah, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stephens Memorial Chapel.
