Bradley Duane Colson, Newkirk area resident, died Wednesday morning, July 28, 2010, the result of a vehicular accident.  He was 28.

The son of Gary Lynn and Vicki Lynn (Vap) Colson, Bradley was born Dec. 6, 1981 in Tulsa.  He grew up and received his education in Newkirk until his middle school years when he moved to Grove, Okla. to live with his father.

On Oct. 31, 2001, Bradley and Dana Radcliff were married in Blackwell.  They established their home in Blackwell where they lived until their divorce.

His work history includes several years with Take 10, and his current employment as a lineman for several power companies, working all over the U.S.  Brad loved his work, being able to help restore electric service following power outages.  He enjoyed cooking out and watching OU football, and he was good mechanic and could fix about anything.  He took great delight in his daughter and his nephews and niece.  He enjoyed spending time with them.

He is survived by one daughter, Hallie Lynn Colson, of Blackwell; his companion, Alichia Coyle, of Blackwell; his parents, Vicki and Kent Kirchoff of Newkirk and Gary Colson, (former postmaster of Grove) and his companion Lynnette Rohrs of Ponca City; two brothers and sister-in-law, Spencer and Cindy Cline and Justin Kirchoff both of Newkirk; one sister, Staci Kirchoff of Newkirk; a niece and two nephews, Courtney, Tanner and Tate Cline of Newkirk; his maternal grandmother, LaVone Vap of Newkirk; and his paternal grandparents, Elsie Colson of Newkirk and Wilbur Colson of Ponca City.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Tony Vap.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31 in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Newkirk with Rev. Richard Beckman as celebrant.  Interment followed in the Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service.

Those serving as casket bearers were Brian Koenke, Paul Koenke, Benjamin Vap, Anthony Vap, Matthew Vap and Logan Colson. 

Honorary bearers were Spencer Cline, Justin Kirchoff, Staci Kirchoff and Hallie Colson.

A memorial fund has been established as an education fund for Bradley’s daughter, Hallie.  The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name through Eastman National Bank, Box 468, Newkirk 74647-0468.
