(Josie) Uttley, 89, of Grove, OK passed away Wednesday, December

9th, 2009 peacefully at Grand Lake Villa in Grove, OK. Josie was

born in Scammon, KS on July 5, 1920, to Frank and Elizabeth

(Frazier) Zitnik.

from Columbus High School in 1938 and then attended Kansas State

Teacherís College in Pittsburg, KS. Josie married LeRoy Uttley in

August of 1941 at St Bridgetts Catholic Church in Scammon, KS and

enjoyed 56 years of marriage, before his death in 1997. During

WWII, Josie worked for Spencer Chemical Co. and for the U.S. Census

Bureau in Pittsburg, KS from 1970 to 1980.

built their retirement home and moved to Grand Lake in 1980. Josie

was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, St. Maryís Altar

Society, St. Elizabeth Altar Society, Audubon Society, and Lady

Moose in Grove, OK.

preceded in death by her husband LeRoy, both parents, two sisters;

Elizabeth Wisner and Anna Zitnik, and four brothers; Louis Zitnik,

Joe Zitnik, Frank Zitnik, and Joey Zitnik.

survived by one daughter; Claire Hamilton and husband John of

Grove, OK, one son; James Uttley and wife Jacqueline of Peachtree

City, GA, one sister; Laura Brown of Memphis, TN, three

grandchildren; John Hamilton and wife Shelly of Eudora, KS,

Michelle Hamilton of Webb City, MO, and Jimmy Uttley and wife

Whitney of Charlotte, NC, six great-grandchildren; Alissa, Brynn,

Clay Hamilton of Eudora, KS, Jadyn Hamilton of Webb City, MO, and

Trey and Taylor Uttley of Charlotte, NC.
