James Walter Pees passed from this life on Wednesday morning September 8, 2010 in Miami, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years.

James was born August 17, 1929 in Miami, Oklahoma to his parents Clinton C. and Zella Donahue Pees. James served his country faithfully in the United States Navy. He retired as Captain from the United States Public Health Service. James and his late wife Barbara were married November 13, 1954 in Miami, Oklahoma. They resided in Miami since 1991. James was a member of the American Legion and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was also a member of the Voiture Nationale 40/8. James enjoyed gardening and amateur radio. He was a member of the Elm Creek Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent. James has previously served as board member of the Friends of the Coleman.

Although James is no longer with us, his memory and legacy will be kept alive through the family and friends he leaves behind which include: two daughters, Nancy Pees Coleman of Oklahoma City and Susan Kay Pees and Frank Pascuzzi of Kirkland, Washington; one sister, Marie Pees of Suitland, Maryland and a host of longtime friends and neighbors.

James is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Robbins Pees (September 5, 2006); one sister, Margie Thomas and son-in-law, Ronald Coleman.

Pallbearers serving will be the American Legion Post 147, Kevin Wood, J. Edward Coleman and Carter Coleman.

Funeral Services were held 2 p.m., Friday, September 10, 2010 at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Coleman officiating. Interment will follow at William Timberhill Cemetery.
