Agnes Eileen Edwards, 84, of Grand Rapids, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 in Grand Itasca Hospital, Grand Rapids, Minn.
Services: Visitation 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 and continuing until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service in Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Goodland, Minn.
Agnes was born in 1923 in Duluth, Minn. to George Rade and Agnes (Krompach) Kenjalo. She grew up in Goodland, Minn. and attended school in Nashwauk, Minn., graduating in 1941. Agnes married John William Edwards in Duluth. She lived in Grand Rapids and was a cook at the Forest Lake Lodge, the Itasca Nursing Home for 18 years, the Manor House, and the Itasca Hospital for over 10 years. Agnes loved being around people and cooking for them. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Grand Rapids and an honorary member of the Fraternal Order of Eagle’s Auxiliary of Grand Rapids for over 30 years.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Wiswell; and two brothers, George Kenjalo and Henry Kenjalo.
Survived by her daughter, Pamela Zaffke of Elk River, Minn.; her sons, George (Edna) Edwards of Escondido, Calif., Dale Edwards of Grand Rapids, Minn., Alan (Carolyn) Edwards of Grand Rapids, Minn., Gary (Wendy) Edwards of Bovey, Minn.; her brother, Mike (Gerri) Kenjalo of Goodland, Minn.; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
