Jay Whisner, longtime resident of Fairland, died at home, Sept. 6, 2009. He was 84. Mr. Whisner was born March 1, 1925, at Joplin, MO., to Jasper and Janie (Whitehead) Whisner. He was a veteran, having served in the US Army. He had worked for the American Chair Rental CO. in Kansas City, MO., before moving to Fairland in 1966. He then worked for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier for 20 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairland. He married Elnora Keeling on Feb. 6, 1949, at Bentonville, AR. She preceded him in 2001. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sept. 11, 2009, at Sulphur Bend Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland.
