MARY “OPAL” DUNCAN

JULY 3, 1917 - DECEMBER 16, 2008

BENTONVILLE, AR - Mary “Opal” Duncan, 91, of Bentonville, Arkansas, died December 16, 2008, at Mercy Hospital, Rogers, Arkansas.  Born July 3, 1917, in Glasgow, Missouri, she was the daughter of Arthur Dougherty and Margaret Crews Dougherty.   Before moving to Bentonville in 1975, she lived in the Siloam Springs area.   She worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart for over 30 years.  On August 15, 1934, Opal married Miles Duncan in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.  She loved spending time with her family and being in church.  She was a member of Calvary Temple Worship Center in Bentonville.

She was preceded in death by her husband Miles; one son, Jerry; and three brothers, Leo, Virgil, and Elmo Dougherty.

Survivors include one son, Tommy Duncan and wife Carolyn of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; one daughter, Joann Bailey and husband Harold of Bentonville, Arkansas; six grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Sam Duncan, Jeremiah Thompson, Malachi Thompson, Ron Ruckman, David Foster, Tommy M. Duncan, and Joseph A. Thompson.
