G.E. Jones Jr., 88 years old, Grove, Oklahoma resident passed away Friday, October 1, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma following an extended illness.  G.E. was born on January 6, 1922 in Weatherford, Oklahoma to G.E. Jones Sr. and Arble (Terry) Jones.

G.E. lived most of his life in Weatherford and graduated from high school there in 1939. An outstanding basketball player he also played football and then served his country during World War II as a forward observer for the U.S. Army. G.E. fought in several battles including the Battle of the Bulge.

G.E. married Nina on August 5,1942.  He was a jeweler and ran an art gallery and frame shop for years. G.E. was very active in his community and was a Scoutmaster as well as a past master in the Masonic Lodge.  G.E. also was a volunteer with the Hospital.

G.E. was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Geraldine Eaton.

Survivors include a son Terry and wife Sudi Jones of Grove, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Grove, Oklahoma Reverend James Wilder will officiate. 

Interment will be at Weatherford Cemetery at 4 p.m. in Weatherford, Oklahoma with Reverend Darrell Moore officiating.

Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.
