Leo Bunce went home to be with his Heavenly Father on December 8, 2011. He was born Leo Sylvester Bunce on February 10, 1927 to Ernest Sylvester and Ella Sparrow (Mustain) Bunce in Hockerville, OK. On May 27, 1949 he married Cleota Swearengin from Salina, OK who was the love of his life. Leo was a retired math and science teacher and a high school principal. Leo started out teaching in a one room schoolhouse and ended his career teaching at Fairland High School in a classroom with computers. He graduated from Quapaw High School, NEO in Miami, OK, Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, and attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three daughters, Rebekah Bunce Schillhahn, Naomi and Diana Bunce, four brothers, Russell, Charles, Clifton and John Bunce, one sister, Fay Gregory, one grandson, Kenton Mauser, two brothers-in-law, Wilbur Hawk and John Streeter, and two sisters-in-law, Russell's wife Smiley and Clifton's wife Patsy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cleota of the home in Fairland, two sisters, Christina Hawk of Henderson, KY and Barnetta Streeter of Commerce, OK, one sister-in-law, John's wife Patricia Bunce of Independence, MO, four sons, David Joseph and wife Alene Bunce of Afton, OK, Daniel and wife Susie Bunce of Oologah, OK, Nathan and wife Dee Bunce of Fairland, OK and Amos and wife Kelly Bunce of Miami, OK, and two daughters, Rachel Fleming of Converse, TX and Martha Roach of Fairland, OK. He leaves a legacy of a life well lived to his grandsons Buford Bunce, Seth Bunce, Joel Bunce, Michael Roach, Matthew Alexander, Marcus H. Bunce and Trevor Bunce. He will be remembered as a loving, Christian man to his granddaughters Beverly Ferris, Diana Beehler and husband Jason, Brittany Bunce, Ashley Bunce, Chloe Bunce and Kamrie Bunce. He was so proud to be a great-grandfather to Cheyanne Hall, Ransom and Kenneth (KJ) Ferris, Carmen, Cameran, and Carly Bluejacket, Kaden and Kaylee Beehler, and Clayton Bunce and a great great-grandfather to David Weaver, son of Cameron Weaver and Cheyanne Hall. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

There was a viewing Sunday December 11th at Adcock Funeral Home from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and the funeral was at the First Assembly of God Church in Fairland, OK Monday December 12th at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Jackie Crafton Jr. officiating. He will be buried in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, OK.
