JULY 6, 1925 - MARCH 7, 2009

NEOSHO - Rosalie A. Smith, 83, Neosho, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Seneca House following a lengthy illness.  Mrs. Smith was born July 6, 1925 in Fairview, MO, the daughter of Robert and Myrtle (Pounds) Thompson and attended school at Fairview, Midway and Neosho.  She had worked as a cook at Neosho Schools; worked at Kraft Foods; Rocketydyne/Teledyne; Wastewater Technical School and as an inspector at La-Z-Boy, retiring from La-Z-Boy.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

 Rosalie married James Smith on Sept. 13, 1941 at Bentonville, AR and he preceded her in death in October, 2003. 

She is survived by a daughter, Patsy DeVoe and husband, Dale, Grove, OK; two granddaughters, Wendy Stephens and husband, Jason, Joplin and Kristy Mayo and husband, Steve, Covington, GA; one sister, Bernice Embrey, New Orleans, LA and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Smith and brother, Paul Powers. 

Services were Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 1:00 pm at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Pastor Ray Crews will officiate.

 Interment will follow in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery.  Stephen DeVoe, Sr., Jim Powers, Jason Stephens, Michael Springer, Sam Smith and Stephen DeVoe, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.  Friends visitation was at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho on Monday from 10 am to 7 pm.  Contributions in memory of Rosalie may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Heart Association, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO  64850.
