1938 - 2009

Alverda Rae McIntosh Bolton passed away Oct. 28, 2009 at home after a long battle with lung cancer.  She lived every one of her 71 years of life with a positive outlook and faced her struggle with cancer in the same way. During that difficult time she often said that God had blessed her life to such an extent that she would not want to trade places with anyone else in the world.

Alverda was born in Okmulgee, OK on Aug. 27, 1938 and grew up in Tulsa with her aunt and uncle, Annie and Olind Craig.  She met her husband, Mike Bolton, in college.   They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 28th of this year.  They later settled at the Bolton family farm near the town of Jay, where they raised four daughters.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jay for 44 years and served as secretary for 27 of those years.  She loved music and directed the choir, plays, musicals, and other church events.  She was a member and officer of The Singing Church Women of Oklahoma.  She enjoyed performing in many Grove Playmaker productions.  She loved to travel and enjoyed being a member of the Grand Lake Good Samaritans RV Club.

Alverda is survived by her husband, Dr. Michael D. Bolton of Jay, OK; brother, Bill McIntosh of Stillwater, OK; daughters: Dana Williams of Springfield, VA; Kristy White of Leawood, KS; Jennifer Teague of Claremore, OK; and Michelle Fitts of Tulsa, OK; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation was Oct. 30, 2009 from 6-8 P.M. at Funeral Services of Grand Lake Chapel, 311 W. Gray Street, Jay, OK, 74346.  Funeral services were Oct. 31, 2009 at 2 P.M. at Jay First Baptist Church, 404 W. Price.  Her son-in-law, Dan Williams  officiated.
