Dorothy Laverne Armstrong of Fairland, Okla. passed away Friday March 18, 2011 at Fairland Family Care Center after an illness. She was 83.

Mrs. Armstrong was born April 21, 1927 in Dexter, Kansas to Ernest and Ida (Richardson) Burdick. She had lived in Grove for many years before moving to Fairland the pass 10 years. She was a cook in schools in Wichita, Kan. and Grove, Okla. and at Aircraft Plants. She was a member of the Wyandotte Friends Church in Wyandotte, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Allen Armstrong; a son, Allen Dale Armstrong; two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include one son, Eldon Dwayne Armstrong and wife Dee of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Virginia Charlene Best and husband Claude of Fairland, Okla.; brother, Clifford Burdick and wife Betty of Disney, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the Wyandotte Friends Church in Wyandotte, Okla. Pastor Stephen Johnson will officiate. Memorial Dinner will be Saturday March 26, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wyandotte Friends Church.

Services are under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami, Okla.
