"3">Samuel Lee “Sam” Cooper, 62, of Grove, Oklahoma departed this
life on Saturday evening, July 16, 2011 at his home after a recent
battle with cancer.
"3">Sam entered this life on December 20, 1948 in Southwest City,
Missouri to Allen Cooper and the late Ruby (Ferrell) Cooper. He was
raised in Southwest City and was a 1966 graduate of Southwest City
High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on April
17, 1968 to serve his country during Vietnam. After being honorably
discharged he made his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. On June 18,
1977 he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Gravitt and together
they have shared the last thirty-four years. For twenty-three years
he was employed by the Hertz Corporation in Oklahoma City as a Data
Base Programmer. In 2009 he and Mary Jane decided to retire to
Grove, Oklahoma. Sam was of the Baptist faith.
"3">Sam is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Cooper of the home; two
sons, Scott Cooper of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Jason Cooper and
wife, Darla, of Goodman, Missouri; two daughters, Terri Albert and
fiancé, Darrell Paterson, of Grove, Oklahoma and Samantha Cooper
and fiancé, Jason Benjock, also of Grove, Oklahoma; five
grandchildren, Savanah Cooper, Shane Cooper, Drake Albert, Cristian
Albert and Ava Jane Benjock; his father, Allen Cooper of Grove,
Oklahoma; three brothers, Allen Cooper of Washington D.C., John
Cooper of Pryor, Oklahoma and Russ Cooper of Neosho, Missouri; five
sisters, Mary Lou Roark of Anderson, Missouri, Betty Edwards of
Bentonville, Arkansas, Melanie Witham of Southwest City, Missouri,
Dorlene Atkinson of Springfield, Missouri and Peggy Watts of
Anderson, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host
of other family and friends.
"3">Memorial services for Mr. Cooper were at 10 a.m. Thursday, July
21, 2011 at the New Life Fellowship Church in Anderson, Missouri
with Bro. Tom Ellis officiating. Military honors followed the
service at the church.
