Lena Belle Mathis, 83, of Miami, Okla., passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010 peacefully, at Osborne Care and Rehab Center.

Lena was born in Wyandotte, Okla. on October 4, 1927, to Eliza (Leader) and Charles Elmer Kellogg. Lena married Basil Mathis on July 8, 1946 in Dayton, Wash. Lena was a homemaker and enjoyed bingo, fishing, and quilting.

Lena is preceded in death by her husband Basil; both her parents, Charles and Eliza Kellogg; five brothers, Marvin Kellogg, Arley Kellogg, Ivan Kellogg, Vernal Kellogg, and John Kellogg; and two sisters, Myrtle McGehee and Tama Roberts.

Lena is survived by two daughters, Verna Hochart of Winnemucca, Nev. and Sheila Filippe, of Winnemucca, Nev.; two sons, Charles B. Mathis of Kennewick, Wash. and Gerald D. Mathis of Wyandotte, Okla.; two brothers, Eugene Kellogg of Wyandotte, Okla. and George Kellogg of Miami, Okla.; three sisters, Gladys Crowder of Grove, Okla., Elma Teel of Joplin, Mo. and June Roberts of Grove, Okla.; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 9-5 p.m. and family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Grand Lake Funeral Home in Grove, Okla. Chapel Services will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Grand Lake Funeral Home Chapel in Grove, Okla. with Pastor Roy Scribner officiating. Interment will follow at the Hartís Cemetery.
