1938 - 2009

Gerald L. Neighbors, 71, of Grove, OK, passed away Saturday evening, October 31, 2009 at Grove General Hospital.

Born February 24, 1938, in Boone County, Arkansas,  he was the son of Harry and Opal (Stout) Reynolds.  He moved with his family to Winfield when he was three years old and was raised and attended school in Winfield until 1944 when the family moved to Medicine Lodge.  He graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1956.              

He married Linda Freeman in 1958 in Medicine Lodge, to this union two children were born. The couple later divorced. In 1964 Gerald went to work for Cities Service Gas Company, which later became Williams Natural Gas. He remained there for 33 years until he retired in 1997.  He was united in marriage to Catherine Cook in 1993 in Waldport, Oregon.  The couple made their home in Winfield, until 2003 when they moved to Grove, Oklahoma to be near family.     

He enjoyed bowling, fishing, woodworking, and boating.

Survivors include his wife:  Cathy of the home; son:  Morse Neighbors of Winfield; daughter:  Lisa Chrisman and husband, Joe of Winfield; stepsons:  Terry Cook and wife, Larena of Grove, OK; Randy, and Debbie Cook of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren: Hollie Neighbors; Kyle Inmon; Kelly Chrisman-Jacques and husband, Martin;  Levi Chrisman; Becca Chrisman; andstep grandchildren:  Logan Cook; Amanda Cook; Emily Cook; Chaise Cook; Brandon Cook; Benjamin Cook; Maxwell Cook.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 6, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, KS.  Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Mr. Neighborsí name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral  home.
