Charles Richard Muckey, 68-year-old rural Afton (Bernice) resident, died Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the St. Johnís Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri.† He was born October 22, 1942 in Sioux City, Iowa to Donald Freeland Muckey and Eva Louis Green Muckey.† Charles married Dana Sue Anfinson on April 23, 1965 in Cushing, Iowa.† Charles served his country in the Navy from 1960 to 1964, and was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy.† He joined the Air National Guard in 1980 and retired in October 1998.† Charles was a member of the Cleora Baptist Church, where he had taught the adult Sunday School Class and a member of the American Legion.†

The family includes: his wife Dana of the home, two sons, Mark Andrew Muckey and wife Susan of Mustang, Kirk Charles Muckey and wife Rachelle of Tulsa; grandchildren, Tanner, Noah and Shepard Muckey; brothers, Donald Muckey and wife Glenda of Mapleton, Iowa, Michael Muckey and wife Sue of Sioux City, Iowa, James Muckey and wife Terre of Sioux City, Iowa; sister Marsha Morris and husband Robert of Brighton, Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family received friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Lugnibuel Funeral Home in Vinita.

The funeral service was held Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Cleora Baptist Church, with Pastors, David Pifer and Jerry Jennings officiating.† Military rites and burial will be held at the Ballard Cemetery near Bernice.†
