JAMES ANDREW MILLER
FEBRUARY 1, 1924 - JULY 23, 2008
OKLAHOMA - James Andrew Miller (known to family and friends as Jim, or Uncle Jim) was 84 years old, born February 1, 1924, in Fairland, Oklahoma being of Cherokee descent; passed away at 4:00 P.M. July 23, 2008, at Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa, OK. Jim completed school at the Chilocco Indian School, he then went on and attended college for a short time until 1941 when He entered the U. S. Army where he fought bravely and gallantly for our country at the ending of World War II and the Korean War. Shortly after coming home from fighting for his country, he decided to move west to San Francisco, CA where he lived and worked for the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. for 20 years. He returned to Oklahoma in 1969 and in 1971 married Charlotte D. Saylor, who preceded him in death.
His father Robert Lee Miller and mother Susie Hilderbrand also preceded him in death.
Grieving surviving family includes one daughter: Tierra Rose Miller of Catoosa, OK and two grandchildren: Charles Aysa Barton Owens & Amaiya Hunter Rose Owens of Catoosa, OK; three brothers: Jackson L. Miller of Zena, OK, Quanah L. Miller of Sapulpa, OK and Thomas G. Miller of Chelsea, OK; two sisters: Lucille Ahniwake Fleming of Adelphi, MD & Martha A. Miller of Chelsea, OK; five nephews: Frank L. Fleming of California, Robert Lee Fleming of Washington, DC, Joe L. Fleming of Adelphi, MD, Robert L. Miller of Sapulpa, OK, and Thomas C. Hampton, III of Catoosa, OK; three nieces: Susan R. Harjo of Dallas, TX, Dianna D. Hampton of Chelsea, OK and Lora L. Obert-Thorn of Tulsa, OK; 11 grand nephews & nieces: Jesse A. Hampton of Catoosa, OK, Kristina M. Hampton of Catoosa, OK, Sara D. Werther of Tulsa, OK, Michael C. Hampton of Catoosa, OK, Nicholas S. Melko of Chelsea, OK and Jessica D. Marshall of Chelsea, OK, Keila N. Obert-Thorn of Tulsa, OK, Tyler M.
